![]() ![]() In short, as per my OP, I'm trying to understand how all of this connects and what you can and cannot do, and there is a very distinct lack of information that makes any coherent sense./r/GameDealsMeta is a subreddit for PSAs, discussion, and questions relevant to the Game Deals community. Certainly the people on reddit are claiming that you need to re-purchase the base game to activate the Mac DLC, though I fail to see why this should be needed. I'm not sure if this is an unrelated issue that occurred at the same time, or more to do with the way Steam blocks this DLC at Take 2's request, and they just don't have a more accurate message to show. There is an image link in the reddit link in one of my posts above). It errors with a 'content not available in your country' error (or some such message. To make things worse, even though the base Bioshock Infinite is cross platform, you apparently can't redeem the Mac DLC. At best you can only assume you'll get access to the platforms the third part site says it is for. I'm still waiting for a reply to my follow up email.Īnd yes, I hear you, but this is my whole point - things suddenly changed without any kind of warning for the customers.Īny game on a third party site may NOT give you access to the platforms Steam says it is for. That's not what people are saying, and also not what MacGameStore told me. Has anyone redeemed this DLC from MacGameStore in the last few days without issue? Ok, maybe a technical issue and the reddit post was a little exaggerated with respect to it being 2K Games intentionally? It may simply be incorrect keys that were given out, but many people have had issues with the key not activating: This seems to be something that has started just before Christmas 2015. Is it possible that some people are getting keys for the M app only (24315), which only supports Mac and therefore won't work with Windows? The store lists the DLC with 214933 (MW) for me I can appreciate wanting the correct publishers and developers to be paid, but it seems like this has been pushed back to being an issue for the consumer when it should have been handled internally somehow.įirstly, 243415 DLC is listed as Mac only (call this M), while 214933 has all platforms (call this MW).īut if you look at which is a package it includes both M and MW apps. I've also failed to follow the reddit threads which are sometimes in less-than-complete English (no offence to anyone who posted there, I just couldn't follow what they were saying). So if I buy the Mac DLC via MacGameStore will it work or not? And if I need to buy the Windows DLC via WinGameStore, will that then allow me to play the DLC on my Mac also, or do I need to buy the DLC on both platforms?ĭoes anyone know how this all works now, and which games are affected by it? It seems all hush-hush, no details are listed publicly by 2K games or the third party stores that I have seen. I don't know what base game key I have - it works on both Windows and Mac for me as per Steam instructions. ![]() ![]() It's not clear to me as a customer what I should buy. It appears that USED to be the case, but 2K Games is now preventing access. Similarly, the Season pass DLC on Steam is for both Windows and Mac, so I would assume that any valid Steam key will allow me to access this DLC on both Windows and Mac. So for eg, Bioshock Infinite runs on Windows and Mac, so any Bioshock Infinite Steam key will provide me access to both those platforms. ** My understanding has been that a Steam key (provided it is not region locked) will provide access to the platforms listed for that key. It is listed in my activations as Bioshock Infinite Retail (WW). I have a copy of Bioshock Infinite obtained via a 3rd party site for a charity drive. From what I've read on the internet, 2K Games is somehow blocking certain DLC on some games when the DLC is purchased from a "Mac" store. ![]()
