Jack did many solos in churches in the area. Jack was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury for over 40 years serving as an Adult Sunday School Teacher for 20 years, being on the Staff Parish Relations Committee for several years, occasionally preaching and most recently being a part of the Praise Team at Trinity Family Worship Center. ![]() Hermon United Methodist in Salisbury, Maryland. He pastored Friendship United Methodist Church in Berlin, Maryland and Mt. Jack always wanted to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. He sang with the choir on WBOC-TV for The Way of the Cross Program. They traveled to sing in many churches on the Delmarva Peninsula. Jack began singing with the Savage Family Singers at an early age at People's Missionary Church in Fruitland. Until his death, he served as co-chairman of the Salisbury Area Prayer Breakfast. Savage, also served on the building committee of Wor-Wic Community College. He was instrumental as chairman of the board on the planning of the Chaplaincy Program at Peninsula Regional Hospital. Jack served the local community, participating in the local Chamber of Commerce. His business was also a member of the Munce Marketing Group, Largo, Florida. He and his wife also represented the association at many Christian Product Expos in many cities. Savage also served in the Christian Retailers Association, Largo, Florida on their board of directors. He eventually became President of this International Association. Jack also served in many positions for the Christian Booksellers Association, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In many locations, he taught workshops to Christian Booksellers. ![]() He traveled extensively throughout the United States, Israel, Philippines, China, Singapore, India, Austria, Germany, Italy, England, Canada, Mexico, and Haiti. Countless others looked to him, as a father and grandfather. He is also survived by the "apple of his eye", his granddaughter Selah Wilson, and his bonus grandchildren, Brittany Wolske (Matt), Kelsea Cornell (Henry) and Caleb Wilson (Beverly) as well as 8 bonus great grandchildren sister, Grace Hurley, brother, James Savage, sister, Celeste Savage and brother-in-law, Johnny Rogers (Karen) and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by the love of his life, Ruth Ann, his wife for 60 years (lacking one month) along with his children, John (Jay) Savage, Jr. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Rhoda Savage, and a brother, Alton Savage, Jr. Two of his favorite were being a pilot of a Cessna 170, and a member of the Delmarva Flying Farmers, as well as owner of 1930 Ford Model A and being a member of the Eastern Shore Region A.A.C.A. After graduating from Salisbury State Teachers College in 1963, Jack taught at Prince Street Elementary School in Salisbury and Paul Lawrence Dunbar Elementary in Laurel, Delaware. ![]() Jack served in this capacity for the next 62 years, with his wife, Ruth Ann serving by his side for 58 years. This business/ministry was a lighthouse to Delmarva and beyond. In his senior year, he began his business, Jack's Religious Gift Shop in his parents home. He graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in 1959. At the age of 6, Jack moved to Salisbury with his family. Jack was born in Boothwyn, PA to Alton and Rhoda Abbott Savage on March 18, 1941. Jack went from the arms of his family into the arms of Jesus. He was surrounded by his loved ones singing him into Heaven. John Roland Savage, Sr., better known as Jack, age 82, went to meet Jesus Christ, his Savior, at Tidal Health PRMC on May 8, 2023. ![]()
